Author Biography

Brittany Leigh Brown, The College of William and Mary

Brittany Brown is an adjunct professor at Columbia College and a  Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Anthropology at The College of William and Mary. She  has an academic background in both historical archaeology and cultural anthropology. Her current research focuses on four historic African American cemeteries in Jacksonville, Florida. Through ethnography, archaeology, and archival research, Brittany investigates the ways in which contemporary African Americans conceptualize and inhabit these spaces.
